Our Mission

At Treasures of Joy, our mission is to empower individuals in recovery by providing safe and supportive environments where they can heal, grow, and thrive. We are committed to helping our residents develop the skills and tools necessary to maintain lasting sobriety and achieve their personal goals. Through our programs and services, we aim to create a community of support and encouragement that fosters long-term success and fulfillment.

The Founding of Hope House

In 2014, Pastor Ronnie Morton sat down with Bishop James Daniel and told him of the vision to restore the community where I pastor. Having had children become incarcerated for long periods of time, I understood the seriousness of drug addiction and alcoholism. I also understood that it often leads to homelessness and eventually hopelessness.

In 2015, Pastor Morton pulled together some good Christian friends who I knew had a deep concern for the problems in our world and in our community.  This led to a board of directors that would oversee the operations of renovating homes in our community. By the middle of 2016, we had acquired two old houses, and the work began to bring them up to code. However, due to neglect over the years, we had to burn them down and start from scratch.

In 2018, with the help of those who were homeless or addicted to drugs or alcohol, we started revitalizing the community by planning a garden.  We also started a carwash business called, “Treasures of Joy Auto Detail,” in an effort to create jobs for those who had felony records.  This gave them a chance to start over and provide for their families.

In 2019, the first Hope House construction began with the help and support of local churches, businesses, and citizens.  We believe this is just the beginning of the dream that we have in our hearts to make life better for those who have no hope!

Our Board & Leadership.

We are thankful for dedicated board members who continue to support our organization by providing their skills, experience, and time.
